Design Philosophy

Purpose-built for real-world asset settlement since 2019. Not retrofitted. Not adapted. Designed from the first protocol decision to be the settlement layer the global asset economy requires.

SWSS Chain is a Layer 1 blockchain built from genesis for one purpose: to provide settlement-grade finality for real-world assets at global scale. Every architectural decision — from consensus design to transaction prioritisation to finality certification to zero-knowledge privacy to on-chain identity — has been made in service of this single mandate.

Development commenced in Q1 2019. The testnet at Chain ID 122606 entered active validator operation in May 2025 and underwent more than 365 consecutive days of rigorous, independently operated testing before mainnet was declared production-ready. SWSS Chain mainnet is now live, producing a block every second, and is publicly verifiable at swssscan.swss.io. Every transaction, every deed settlement, every Finality Certificate is on record.

Three Core Design Principles

swsschain · design principles Three, and each is a constraint

swss chain principles

THE NETWORK SWSS Chain A Layer 1 specified for settlement, not for general computation. PRINCIPLE ONE Settlement first Every block is a legal settlement event rather than a computational record. Settlement infrastructure that happens to be programmable. PRINCIPLE TWO RWA priority Deed transactions take guaranteed first position in every block, whatever the load. Predictable settlement time is a legal need. PRINCIPLE THREE Finality certification Every block of settlements produces a certificate, signed under aggregate signature so it stays constant in size.

These are constraints rather than features, and each one closes a door. A network that settles first cannot also optimise for general throughput; a network that guarantees deed position cannot also sell it. That is the trade this chain was built to make.

Principle One
Settlement First
Every block produced by SWSS Chain is a legal settlement event, not merely a computational record. SWSS Chain is not a database that happens to be tamper-resistant. It is a settlement infrastructure that happens to be programmable. This distinction shapes every design decision from consensus to data structure.
Principle Two
RWA Priority
Deed transactions receive guaranteed first-position processing in every block, regardless of network load or competing transaction types. Predictable settlement time is a legal requirement. SWSS Chain delivers it at the protocol level through the Stratified Asset Prioritisation Engine.
Principle Three
Finality Certification
Every block containing deed settlements produces a Finality Certificate, signed by the active validator set under aggregate signature so the certificate stays constant in size. The deed transactions in that block are committed to a Merkle root, and any single settlement proves its inclusion against that root. No existing public blockchain produces this instrument automatically. SWSS Chain produces it as a protocol-level output, not as an application built above one.

Q01

Is SWSS Chain actually live?

Yes. Mainnet operates at Chain ID 122605 and produces a block every second, which is readable from the network itself and publicly verifiable at swssscan.swss.io. A parallel testnet runs at Chain ID 122606 on the same client build and the same block cadence.
