SCP v3.1.4

Four foundational pillars. A Zero-Knowledge Privacy layer. An on-chain validator rotation architecture. Continuous protocol development since 2019, and a development programme that extends considerably further.

The Four Foundational Pillars

swsschain · scp pillars One block, four pillars

swss consensus explain --pillars

PILLAR 01 SAPE Stratified Asset Prioritisation Engine. Deed transactions take the first-position lane. PILLAR 02 DSA Deterministic Sequencing Arbitration. Order is fixed before the block is produced. PILLAR 03 PCA Predictive Commitment Architecture. The next block is assembled during this one. PILLAR 04 BFTFA Byzantine Fault Tolerant Finality Attestation. One certificate per block, constant in size.

The four are a sequence rather than a list, which is the part a table cannot show. Each pillar hands the block to the next one, and the certificate at the end exists because the three before it have already finished — consensus cannot certify what it has not yet decided.

Pillar 01
Stratified Asset Prioritisation Engine
SAPE
SAPE classifies every incoming transaction by asset type at the protocol level before block assembly begins. Deed transactions are assigned to a dedicated first-position processing lane in every block. This classification is deterministic — not configurable, not bypassable, not subject to fee-based override. A property deed settlement delayed by competing network activity may be legally invalid under the terms of the underlying contract. SAPE ensures the settlement layer honours the legal requirements of the assets it settles.
Pillar 02
Deterministic Sequencing Arbitration
DSA
DSA determines transaction ordering mathematically before block production begins. The sequence is committed and immutable once the DSA round concludes. No node can influence ordering retroactively. Front-running is structurally impossible at the protocol level — not discouraged or penalised, but architecturally prevented. Fair settlement is not a policy objective on SWSS Chain. It is a protocol guarantee.
Pillar 03
Predictive Commitment Architecture
PCA
During the consensus round of the current block, PCA pre-assembles the subsequent block. When the current block achieves finality, the next block is immediately ready for commitment, eliminating inter-block latency. This architecture produces one-second block production without imposing prohibitive hardware requirements on validator nodes — preventing the centralisation pressure that comparable throughput demands in other architectures.
Pillar 04
Byzantine Fault Tolerant Finality Attestation
BFTFA
Every block that settles deeds produces a Finality Certificate, signed by the active validator set under aggregate signature so the certificate stays constant in size however large that set grows. The deed transactions in the block are committed to a Merkle root, and any single settlement proves its inclusion against that root, so one certificate covers the block and each deed carries its own proof. The certificate is permanent, publicly verifiable at swssscan.swss.io, and is the multi-party cryptographic attestation that property registries and institutional counterparties can recognise.

SCP Version Evolution

Version Series Core Capability Status
SCP v1.x Four foundational pillars: SAPE, DSA, PCA, BFTFA. DEED-1 transaction type. Finality Certificate standard. Superseded
SCP v2.x Institutional validator framework. On-chain validator registry. DEED-1 three-layer standard. On-chain governance. AI Agent deed type. Superseded
SCP v3.x Zero-Knowledge Settlement Privacy (SCP-ZK v3.3.0). On-chain validator address rotation. Production ZK ceremony complete. Current Production
SCP v4.x Threshold signing architecture. Distributed validator technology research. Planned
Protocol Development Policy

SWSS Chain does not publish protocol roadmaps in advance of verified production readiness. Capabilities under active research are withheld from public disclosure until they are ready to deploy. The SCP development horizon extends beyond SCP v4.x. The four pillars are the foundation, not the ceiling. How they combine with the rest of the stack is set out in Technology Architecture, and the chain they secure in SWSS Chain.

SCP Pillar Summary

SCP Pillar Primary Function Settlement Benefit What It Rules Out
SAPE Asset-class transaction prioritisation Deed settlements are always processed first Delay behind competing network activity
DSA Deterministic pre-block ordering Fair settlement guaranteed at protocol level Front-running, structurally rather than by penalty
PCA Predictive block pre-assembly One-second block production The hardware demands that centralise a validator set
BFTFA Multi-validator finality certification A cryptographic legal certificate for every deed settled Reversal once a block is final
SCP-ZK v3.3.0 Zero-knowledge settlement privacy Ownership and compliance provable on chain Public disclosure of the party's identity
Frequently Asked Questions

Q01

What are the four pillars?

The Stratified Asset Prioritisation Engine classifies transactions by asset type before block assembly. Deterministic Sequencing Arbitration locks ordering at arrival so the proposer cannot reorder it. Predictive Commitment Architecture pre-assembles the next block during the current round. Byzantine Fault Tolerant Finality Attestation produces the Finality Certificate.
